Multitouch interactive table at the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum
22 January, 2018/Museums and Exhibitions, Software Development, XTable
The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum was the first to bet on interactive technology to delve into the pieces of art on display. They did it again with the exhibition Arcimboldo. The Floras and Spring.
The XTable app helps discover the technique of this peculiar, 20th-century, Italian artist who used to employ flowers, plants and fruits to build his portraits. In an amusing way (not just informative) it shows how this painter used to work and the origin of his inspiration, as well as how it influenced later art.

Technology becomes a complement that offers another view of what we see at museums by means of macrophotographies of the paintings and tailor-made apps. In this case, the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum has wanted to give it a significantly recreational character.
Having the visitor participate actively (as in other culture or leisure aspects) has become an essential element to attract the public and to make the museum speech more accessible.
