Innovating narrative with virtual reality at Sala Apolo along with Garage Stories
Garage Storiesis an audiovisual creation lab born in Silicon Valley which experiments with new technologies. Its founder, Marta Ordeig, gathered in Barcelona some creators in different sectors to work on new narrative proposals early this year. The result was displayed at Salón del Cine y las Series, which was held in February at La Farga de l’Hospitalet. Nonetheless, one of these projects, Mettre en Lumière, was shown afterwards at Sala Apolo (during the week that Mobile World Congress was held), a story that had to do with the legendary club itself.
What was DigaliX’s role there? We collaborated with Garage Stories taking to Sala Apolo one of our virtual assistants, which was in charge of welcoming the spectators and provide them with information about the organization as well as pictures and videos of the whole process.
Once inside, we also enjoyed about the experience that Mettre en Lumière offered – being inside a story using virtual reality. We had to be aware not to miss anything, because everything was happening right around us. And it was surprising that if you took your glasses off, the scene was still there, out of the virtual world.
We loved having the chance to cooperate in such a creative, participative initiative – one more proof of how new technologies are useful to innovate, also in culture and in an audiovisual world.
